More than 6.700 trade and business professionals have attended the 20th Biogas trade fair at the Nürnberg convention centre between the 11th and 13th January 2011. There were thus 30% more visitors compared to last year. This clearly indicates that the biomass has become an increasingly important topic in the European Region.
There were 342 exhibitors, 20% more than previous year, and this proved that the Industry has orientated itself towards this growth market.
The innovations and developments in this booming industry are of key importance, especially in the wake of the amendment of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), which will take effect in 2012. The trade fair was also a success for Putzmeister Solid Pumps who exhibited for the third time. Within three days, through many interesting discussions and interesting contacts, we were able to promote the important role of our products in the biomass industry.
There are currently 6.000 Biogas plants in Germany where mainly renewable raw materials are used - such as corn-, grass-, or whole crop silage is being used. However, with time, these supposedly harmless materials can cause major wear on the equipment. Thus, the operators of such plants are seeking more robust systems in order to feed the biomass in the reactor and to extract the fermentation residues from the tank.
At the Biomass symposium, during a presentation, we had the opportunity to discuss the benefits of using hydraulically driven piston for conveying different sorts of biomass. The article on this topic can be found in the news section.
The next biogas trade fair will take place in Bremen from the 10th to 12th January 2012. Putzmeister Solid Pumps will also exhibit once again.
